DESCRIPTION
Embark on a 5-day journey from Guwahati to Shillong, exploring Umium Lake and Shillong’s attractions. Venture to Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on Earth, and return to Guwahati for a visit to the Kamakhya temple before departure.
PROGRAM
Day 1: Arrival at Guwahati – Shillong (2 nights) (110Kms / 3 ½ hrs drive)
Welcome to Guwahati. On arrival at Guwahati Airport/Station, meet your driver and drive to Shillong. Enroute visit Umium Lake, also known as the Scotland of the East. Check-in at the Hotel. Overnight in Shillong.
Note: Peak season surcharges will be applicable during festivals events Diwali Christmas and New Year.
Day 2: Shillong
After breakfast, proceed for full day sightseeing of Shillong. Visit Ward’s Lake, Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, Lady Hydari Park, the Mini zoo, and one of the largest Golf courses in Asia. The State Museum displays the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya. Visit Elephant Falls, a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern-covered rocks. Overnight at Shillong.
Day 3: Shillong – Cherrapunjee (60 kms /2 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee, known as one of the wettest places on the planet and the only place in India to receive rain throughout the year. Visit Arwah Cave, Nahkhalikai Falls, Mwasmai Cave, Seven Sister Falls, Eco Park, Garden of Caves & Thangkharang Park. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
Day 4: Cherrapunjee – Guwahati (150 kms /4 hrs approx.)
After breakfast, drive from Cherrapunjee to Guwahati. In the afternoon, visit Kamakhya temple, dedicated to goddess Kamakhya, an incarnation of Sati. Overnight at Guwahati.
Day 5: Guwahati – Departure
After Breakfast, drive to Guwahati Airport /Station to board your flight/train to your hometown. Holiday Concludes. Let’s stay in touch on Facebook/email and meet again on another memorable Holiday. See you soon!
